4. Choosing a clutch

The selection procedure for a particular type of clutch will be outlined in the manufcturer's brochure. Some manufacturers quote their own valuse for power dissipation, in other cases you have to calculate the value as shown in section 4.??. The basic procedure for clutch selection is:

Decide the type of clutch by considering the application
Consider the dynamic characteristics of the clutch, particularly heat dissipation and cooling where appropriate and list suitable clutches.
Choose a clutch that meets the other requirements i.e. dimensions, mountings, etc.
