5.2 Friction clutches
Torque is transmitted by the shear forces created between friction materials, on the drive and driven parts of the clutch, as they are engaged. The friction clutch is a successful engineering component and thus has been developed for a variety of applications.

There are four main types:

  1. Disc
  2. Cone
  3. Centrifugal
  4. Wrap Spring
