5.3 Over-Running clutches
Over-Running Clutches may use ball-bearings or sprags as components. These are known as over-riding, freewheeling, sprag, backstopping and indexing clutches. They are often used instead of ratchet mechanisms because they have less backlash and transmit more torque.
