A selected range of manufacturers is shown in Figure 7 together with their main product lines, contact data and catalogue references where appropriate. It should be noted that catalogue data may not always be as useful as it seems. In particular:

• the relevant catalogues are not always available;
• they may be out of date;
• they tend to give priority to information required by the draftsman, rather than the designer, giving dimensional data first;
• their prime purpose is to promote one particular company's products;
• the structure, content and format will vary between manufacturers.
