3.3 Clamping
An extended and split hub is required. As the screw is tightened the hub grips the shaft. This method cannot be used where space along the axis of the shaft is at a premium. Clamping which can be used to transmit all but the highest torque levels, is relatively easy to replace and fixes the hub axially on the shaft. Another advantage of clamping is that manufacturing tolerances can be relaxed. Stress concentration effects are quite low at around a kf of 1.34.
