5.3 Application
Factors relating to the application of connections vary with the type used. Original fitting of most types of connections is usually straightforward but, in service, removal and replacement can be very difficult and special tools may need to be provided.
Many connections are fitted for life and no maintenance is planned. Some will require regular lubrication, adjustment or replacement and accessibility will be important.
